Period renovation · Joinery
Rockfield Road, Surrey
A period home given a classic but contemporary scheme, where the joinery sits quietly within the rooms and plays light tones against dark.
The brief
The owners of a period home wanted a renovation that respected the building’s classic bones while feeling unmistakably contemporary.
The challenge
Built-in storage was needed in rooms with irregular alcoves and original mouldings, without the new joinery looking bolted on.
The design solution
I designed bespoke joinery for each room, carefully considering the proportions, practical storage and integrated lighting. A mix of lighter and darker finishes adds contrast between the rooms while keeping the overall scheme cohesive.
The outcome
Materials & finishes
- Painted joinery with integrated lighting
- Contrasting light and dark paint tones
- Panelled doors and mouldings
- Brass ironmongery
